Duties

Papercourt is run by its members (there are no paid staff) and depends on each and every one of them for its smooth operation. Carrying out Papercourt duties is a condition of membership, and each member aged 18 and over is required to carry out at least one duty in each of the six month periods January to June and July to September. Download Introduction to Duties at the bottom of the page. The duties are:

  • OOD (Officer of the Day)
  • SBO (Safety Boat Helm/Crew)
  • PRO/ARO (Principal/Assistant Race Officer)

The SBO Helm and PRO must hold an RYA Level 2 Powerboat certificate. Before undertaking a duty please read the relevant guidance notes, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page - they are updated frequently.

MANAGING YOUR DUTIES

You can view the duties roster online, be automatically notified of your assigned duties, confirm availability and facilitate duty swaps by going to 'Select your Duty' at the top of the page. To login to Sailing Club Manager you will need the username and password sent to you from membership@mg.papercourt-sc.org.uk (your username will be your email address, both username and password are case sensitive). If you have lost or forgotten your username then email membership@papercourt-sc.org.uk. Your password can be re-set from the login page.

You can volunteer for a duty, and so choose the date, or you can wait to be allocated a duty. In either case Sailing Club Manager will send an automatic email asking you to 'accept' the duty. You must reply. If you don't the system will assume you are not accepting it and may allocate you another duty. Once duties have been published it is a members individual responsibility to arrange their own swaps if they cannot perform their rostered duty. That means not just requesting a swap, but also ensuring the request is accepted and confirmed. Members who do not complete their allocated duties during the year may not be invited to renew their membership.

If you have any queries contact the Duties Officer.

To claim expenses for a duty use either the Excel or pdf form below and submit it to treasurer@papercourt-sc.org.uk.
