MATTERS ARISING NOT COVERED BY THE AGENDA
There were none
FINANCE
MH circulated the final year end accounts, which show a very good result after a year of spending. He listed some of the major expenditures which he will elaborate at the AGM. He will do a handover to Andy Fish next week.
JN asked if we could split off the capital expenditure, but MH said we do not count boats as capital, possibly the improvements to the property might count. FB asked if there was any point. MH will check with the auditors but would prefer to keep it simple.
MEMBERSHIP
PW reported that membership is currently 438 which comprises 1022 individuals compared with 992 this time last year. There are 5-6 in the pipeline and several have taken advantage of the 15 months for the price of 12 deal. He tabled a chart showing the numbers of different types of membership over the past year. He is well prepared to launch the renewals, having done an audit of berths with Tony Canning. They will be sent out shortly after the AGM.
A.G.M.
Everything should run as usual. JSn will supply the mince pies and Charlie Beck will man the bar. Members will be given one free drink.
SAILING
JSn reported that the Winter Programme is up and running, and a copy is displayed in the foyer. FB reported that 3 of the marker buoys are deflated and has ordered 6 new yellow ones
TRAINING
JSn reported that the recent spinnaker training course was most popular and will be repeated in December, hopefully including Fevas and combined with a PRO training day. A PB2 course and First Aid are also due imminently.
CHANGING ROOMS PROJECT
JM will arrange a meeting with the architect as soon as possible. It would be nice to get some cost estimates for the AGM.
SOLAR PANELS PROJECT
The contract has been placed and we await the installation next year. JR remarked that this should please the members who asked about the Club's progress towards carbon neutrality at last year's AGM
SAILABILITY
JR thanked SM for her excellent time as head of Sailability. The feedback has been lovely but nothing could happen without the band of volunteers who support her. She has handed over to Niall Maynard.
ROUND TABLE UPDATE
JSn has invited prizewinners to apply for tickets to the Prizegiving Dinner and will open it to the general membership at the weekend. The firework party was a sellout. Next year we look forward to a Fish and Chips Supper with mini quiz in January, a gin tasting in February and a quiz in March.
JN asked when the water level will be restored. FB explained we are awaiting a decision on remedial work to the East slipway.
JN commented that the website is functional but not modern, After a discussion it was agreed that JS, PW and Alan Fuller will take a look at it.
FB recorded many thanks to Roger Roodhouse and Ray Meerabeau for their excellent work running the House group. He reported that the plastic trackway will be laid on the shingle part of the boat park this week. The tent has been taken down for winter. Following a mishap, he will label all the fuel cans to ensure that oil is added to the petrol.
There being no other business, the meeting closed at 8.34 pm
